Sticks and Stones Herkimer Quartz Earrings

Handmade Herkimer drop earrings.

Select one of three size options:
•Little: measures approx. 27x8mm from the top of the ear wire. A little earring with gold ear wire weighs approx. 1 gram.
•Medium: measures approx. 32x10mm from the top of the ear wire. A medium earring with silver ear wires weighs approx. 2.1 grams.
•Large: measures approx. 34x11mm from the top of the ear wire. A large earring with silver ear wires weighs approx. 2.8 grams. A large earring with gold ear wires weighs approx. 2.9 grams.

All three sizes come in the following metals:
•Bright solid sterling silver bail and ear wires
•Oxidized (blackened) sterling silver bail and ear wires
•Solid 14k yellow gold bail and ear wires

All metal options have a matte finish.

Herkimer "diamonds" are raw quartz crystals mined exclusively in Herkimer, NY. Nearly 500 millions years old, these gemstones are naturally formed with 18 facets, 6 sides, and 2 points, holding history within their unique inclusions.

COLOR VEIL: A healed fracture that reflects light like a rainbow of shattered glass.
SKELETAL CRYSTAL: A depressed cavern formed during the growth stage of the stone. This indentation is patterned with multiple parallel lines stepping toward the top of the crystal.
PIGGYBACK: A baby crystal growing out of the surface of a larger crystal.
SOLID INCLUSION: A mineral caught within the crystal. This mineral is often black anthraxolite, adding dark specks to the stone.
SMOKY CRYSTAL: A pale grey to black discoloration resembling wisps of smoke.

MOHs Hardness: 7.5
Care: Quartz is relatively durable, but not invinceable. Avoid dropping them onto hard surfaces. Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, scrubbing away dirt with a soft brush if necessary. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners.
