Diana Fossilized Opal Cameo Necklace
Celestial and ancient, this necklace unites the mysteries of earth and sky. A hand-carved golden goddess- adorned with a crescent moon- presides over a rare fossilized opal, its elongated form shimmering with soft violets, blues, and embers of green. Once organic matter, now immortalized in color and light, this opal carries the quiet alchemy of transformation. Named for Diana, the Roman goddess of the moon, wild places, and feminine independence, this necklace is a tribute to untamed grace and luminous strength.
Opals are a pseudomorph: they are able to fill in and substitute for another material and form as fossils. In the right conditions, a raw opal specimen is formed in a cavity left by a piece of wood buried in sand or clay. The opal forms a fossil replica of the original object that was buried.

Origins: Lightning Ridge, NSW Australia
Care: All opals are fragile like glass: be extra careful to avoid abrasive surfaces, and avoid knocking your opal against hard surfaces. Extreme temperature shifts can cause cracks. To keep your opal clean, use warm water with mild soap and a soft toothbrush or cloth. Do not use a steam cleaner or ultrasonic cleaner.
Healing Properties: Precious opals that contain play-of-color are known to stimulate the emotional body and are considered an amplifier stone

Oh my gosh...Hannah's art work of the Seaborn Nautilus is absolutely beautiful. I picked this Scrimshaw because the Nautilus is ancient and mysterious in it's alien underworld beauty. I treasure this special piece dearly as it is a little work of art on my neck. A reminder life is precious and there are many mysteries we do not understand above and below...but the Nautilus knows...
