THE MEANING BEHIND Branches

“Nothing ends, it simply becomes something new. I am drawn to that moment of transition, where stillness gives way to a bloom, and change begins to take shape.” ~ Hannah

18k gold setting. All metal has a matte finish.

The setting measures approx. 9.2 x 11.12mm. The stone measures approx. 8mm.

The ring is size 7.5. Please note: ring resizing can add up to 4 weeks to your shipping estimate. Resized rings are not eligible for return or exchange.

We intentionally choose gemstones with natural inclusions, and some may also feature subtle surface texture. These characteristics are part of what makes each stone unique, and one of the things we love most about natural gemstones.

In 1500’s Brazil, a conquistador mistakenly identified a dusty green tourmaline as emerald. This confusion lived on until the 1800’s, when gem identification became sophisticated enough to identify it as a mineral species of its own. Tourmaline comes in such a wide variety of colors that it earned the name “tourmaline” from the Sinhalese word for “mixed gems”.
Origins: Various
MOHs Hardness: 7-7.5
Care: Although tourmalines are sturdy, they are not invincible and can break: avoid dropping them onto hard surfaces. To clean your tourmaline jewelry, soak in warm, soapy water and remove any dirt with a toothbrush or the like. Do not use an ultrasonic of steam cleaner.

THE ANATOMY OF THE BRANCH

Bare branches mark a moment of transition, a pause between what has been and what is about to unfold. These nature-inspired jewelry designs and engagement rings draw from those forms, symbolizing resilience and new beginnings. Inspired by the stillness before spring, these organic designs capture the moment of becoming.

Each branch style is hand-carved and built one branch at a time, capturing the irregular shape and movement found in nature. The result is a sculptural, one-of-a-kind ring or necklace that gives a distinct sense of life and character.

Gemstones are thoughtfully selected for their individuality, with a focus on Montana sapphires, aquamarines, emeralds, tourmalines, antique diamonds, and other naturally included stones. Their variation in tone, clarity, and texture enhances the organic setting, allowing each ring and necklace to feel entirely unique while complementing the natural, branching forms.

Some branch settings carry subtle jeweled accents that catch the light. Tiny gemstone berries and hidden diamond halos hint at life just about to emerge.

Cast in solid gold, platinum and silver, these designs are made with fine metals meant to last. The strength and weight of the material provide a foundation for the delicate forms, balancing durability with a refined, organic aesthetic.

Branches curve and wrap in fluid, asymmetrical lines, creating silhouettes that feel both untamed and intentional. These pieces move beyond traditional styles, offering a more expressive, nature-driven approach to fine jewelry and engagement rings.

Ring Sizing FAQ

For custom Ruthie B. rings, prices start around $4,000. If you want a diamond Ruthie B. ring or a Ruthie B. ring with a larger (10mm+) sapphire, then the starting price is typically around $8,000 and will increase depending on the size, quality, and character of the stone. Because each custom ring is made specifically for you, pricing will typically be higher than that of a similar ring from our current collection online.

Custom Ruthie B. rings are made to order and typically take 2–4 months to complete. That said, always feel free to reach out. Sometimes we are able to do rush orders.

Once you complete this online form, we will typically reach out in 1-3 business days (it can be longer during the holidays). During our initial exchange, we will walk through some basic questions to help determine how best to proceed. Often we jump right into stone shopping (the best part)!

After our initial consultation and follow up meetings (as applicable), we will provide an estimated project quote (often as a range). Since Ruthie B. rings are fairly time consuming to build, we require an initial deposit equal to either the price of the gemstone being purchased for this project or 50% of the project quote (whichever is higher). Please note: All project deposits are non-refundable.

Upon project completion, we will reach out to you with images and finalized costs. Once your final invoice is paid, we will coordinate shipping. All shipments are insured and require a signature upon delivery.

Click on the "CUSTOM" link at the top of our website to learn more about how we manage custom projects.

We have you covered! We recommend checking out our Ring Sizer Loan Program (we can't hyperlink for some reasons so just search for "Ring Sizer" on our website). You will also find a number of tips and tricks by clicking on the Ring Sizing Guide at the bottom of our website.

And, as always, feel free to also contact the studio with any questions!

This is something we can brainstorm on together as we work through your custom ring, so no worries.

That said, if you want to get a head start then we recommend borrowing one of the recipient’s rings (preferably one that is worn on the intended finger) and having a local jeweler (or us!) size the ring. Keep in mind that a narrower band will fit looser on a finger than a wider band, so try to borrow a ring that has a similar band width to the ring being gifted.

And keep in mind that we can always resize the ring after it is gifted!

Yep! Reach out after you receive your ring and we can work together on determining the correct size.

As an FYI, our custom rings are resized by our talented friend outside of the studio. Since he is located on the other side of the city, it can take up to four weeks for this process (accounting for all the back and forth).

Figuring out the perfect size when you have larger knuckles can be a challenge. As artists that work with our hands and, therefore, tend to have larger knuckles, we get it! The good news is that we have a few options available (including sizing beads). Just ask!

If you need a custom size (including quarter sizes or sizes not seen on our website), just let us know! We are happy to accommodate.
