A gemstone of regality and vibrancy, lapis lazuli is steeped in ancient Egyptian history where it was referred to as "heaven's stone." The lapis lazuli mines that in Afghanistan have been producing this gemstone since 700 BC are still in use today, making them the oldest source of commercial gemstones. Hannah Blount Jewelry loves lapis lazuli for its rich shades of cobalt blue, organic striations, and glimmering pockets of pyrite.
