The story of the Ruthie B Ring

1.7ct Montana sapphire Ruthie B. ring.

Solid 14k yellow gold band and setting with solid 18k yellow gold barnacles. Tiny post-consumer diamonds are set within each barnacle, totaling approximately 0.06ct.

Stone + setting measures approximately 8.25x10mm in width and 4.25mm in height.

All metal has a matte finish.

Mined in the US and easy to trace its ethical origins, Montana Sapphires tend to come in muted, dreamy colors. Sapphires are a corundum variety, like rubies, that come in every color but red. While classic, cobalt sapphires are the most popular, the HBJ studio loves those with inclusions and atypical coloring. Sapphire inclusions are formed by minerals called needles; in ancient Greece and Rome, royalty believed that sapphires provided protection.

Care: While sapphires are very sturdy, they can still break. Avoid dropping them onto hard surfaces. To clean your sapphire piece, soak in warm, soapy water and remove any dirt with a toothbrush or the like. It is safe to clean with an ultrasonic and steam cleaner

Every stone we choose carries its own secrets: vivid hues, storied inclusions, and a spirit all its own. Each is hand-picked and truly singular, a celebration of the wearer’s individuality; anything but a typical gemstone.

Each piece is crafted in solid, high-quality precious metal- never plated. Our signature matte finish honors the material, allowing it to soften and evolve with wear, developing a natural patina that tells the story of the wearer.
