An old
friend came out of the woodwork some time ago, and we rekindled our
friendship after her boyfriend commissioned her a barnacle
ring with
their birthstones set in two of the little crustaceans: Ruby and Blue
Topaz.
Some time after that, Kate had me custom make her boyfriend a ring as well. I was excited to make this ring since I am researching men's accessories and trying get comfortable creating to their taste. I went with a thick, hammered band with an oxidized finish (which will probably rub off in an instant). Per Kate's request, I carved the words "love and coffee" on the inside, and set two tiny birthstones (a Ruby and a Blue Topaz) on the thickness of the ring.
Apparently, men ring sizes vary a lot more than women- our guess for his was about four sizes too small. Thankfully I could re-size it for him!
