Medusa gazes out from an ancient coin in a declaration of women's anger throughout the ages. A talisman of the unyielding power and grace of women and all who consider themselves survivors and allies of sexual violence, Medusa is a symbol of perseverance and resilience.
Electrum gold 1/6 stater coin featuring the gorgon Medusa on the obverse and Hercules in a lion headdress on the reverse. This coin weighs 2.5 grams of electrum gold; the alloy electrum is an ancient combination of gold and silver, equalling to about 18k gold by today's standards. It was struck in Mytilene, the largest city of the island Lesbos, from 525-475 BCE.
Necklace is 18k yellow gold. Approximately 10x10mm coin and 10x15mm pendant. 18in chain with lobster clasp closure.
