Julia Domna lived 160–217 CE. She was empress from 193-211CE. One of Rome's most influential empresses, Julia Domna was celebrated for her intelligence, political influence, and patronage of philosophy and the arts. She accompanied her husband, Emperor Septimius Severus, on military campaigns and was honored with the title Mater Castrorum ("Mother of the Camp"). Coins depicting Julia Domna often feature Pietas, the personification of duty, devotion, and familial loyalty, reflecting the virtues associated with her role as empress and mother of the imperial dynasty.

Julia Domna + Pietas Coin Ring

14k yellow gold prongs, band, and wire seat.

Julia Domna. Struck 203 CE. Rome mint. Silver Denarius of 2.1 grams, 19mm. Obverse, draped bust of empress. Reverse, Pietas (goddess of respect and fidelity), with both hands raided in invocation, altar at feet.

The setting measures approx. 17.28 x 21.15mm

The ring is size 7.5. Please note: ring resizing can add up to a week to your shipping estimate. Resized rings are not eligible for return or exchange.

All metal has a matte finish.

These ancient artifacts are sourced from dealers who specialize in coins, maps, and antiques. Symbols of history, geography, and mythical lore, each coin has a unique story: from the little-known women who ruled the roman empire to the mythology of Greek and Roman goddesses and creatures.

Care: Coins are made up from ancient metals that have developed an age-patina. Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft toothbrush. Dry immediately afterwards. Never use commercial coin-cleaning solutions or metal polish, which can strip the surface and texture.

For Domestic (US): 

We offer free shipping on orders over $300 and ship either via USPS or FedEx, depending on the size of the order. You can opt to pay for a faster shipping method at checkout. A signature is required at delivery. 

For International: 

We ship via DHL and, when possible, with a signature requirement. We are only able to ship to a limited number of countries. International customers are required to pay for all shipping and customs costs.
