A single strand of inky Tahitian pearls evokes underworld magic and the dark side of the moon in this handmade, one-of-a-kind pearl strand necklace. 18k gold accents and crimson-hued silk enhance the various shades of the Tahitian pearls that include jet black and steel; the combination of light and dark summons the magic of the goddess Hecate.

Pearls vary, measuring approx. 12x14mm to 13x18mm.

Solid 18k yellow gold fish hook clasp and barnacles

All metal has a matte finish.

Necklace measures 21" in length, including the clasp.

Tahitian pearls are beloved for their grey to black hues. Like all pearls, Tahitian pearls are formed when an irritant becomes trapped in a mollusk. The mollusk secretes a fluid, called nacre, which coats the irritant layer upon layer until a pearl is formed.
MOHs Hardness: 2.5-4.5
Origins: Saltwater farms in French Polynesia 
Care: Keep Tahitian pearls away from chemicals. Contact with cosmetics, oils, acids, etc., can discolor or ruin the texture of pearls. To clean, use warm water with mild soap. Do not use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. Strands of pearls should not be washed. They should be wiped down with a soft clean cloth before storing. Wetting the silk can cause stretching.

Hail to the Hailstone Ruthie B Necklace

The fish hook clasp and red silk string make this delicate pearl necklace more whimsical than a traditional pearl necklace and yet elegant. I put the clasp to the side so it can be seen since it is very unique!

Crafted from experts. The lunar color of the sapphire occupies a liminal space betwixt pale gray and pale green, invoking the realm of lunar mysticism. The muted gold on the band is subtle and very complementary to the muted gem. If you are into flashy, look-at-my-blood-diamond ring and how much my husband makes rings, this is not for you. If you have tempered-earthy, sustainably harvested, and visceral tastes, this is your huckleberry. She absolutely loves it.

An homage to Hannah's childhood and the nostalgia of her fishing home, this collection comprises gritty nautical-inspired pieces. The collection is named after Hannah's father's fishing vessel, the Ruthie B, which was named after Hannah's mother. Ruthie B. celebrates the mystery and natural peculiarity of the ocean that painted the artist’s childhood. In their weathered island home, Hannah and her six siblings learned how to entertain themselves amidst the chaos that comes with such a large family. The dingy fishing paraphernalia that littered their backyard was a playground of inspiration: raw snapshots of beauty against the clean backdrop of their hometown of Nantucket.
