Jewel Beetle Wing Jewelry
The jewel beetle, or Sternocera Aequisignata, is a species of beetle belonging to the Buprestidae family. These vibrant wings were once sewn into Victorian-era gowns, like sequins. They are farmed in Thailand- the shells are collected after they died of natural causes. HBJ loves jewel beetle wings for their iridescence and vibrancy.
Origins: Farmed in Thailand
MOHs Hardness: 2 – 3
Care: Beetle wings are an organic material, and thus very soft. Wipe gently with a dry or barely damp soft cloth. Avoid water, chemicals, and prolonged sun exposure. Handle with care, as the wings are brittle and can crack under pressure. Store separately, away from sharp objects. Do not use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.
