HBJ's latest custom work was created for my dear cousin, Marsena, and her fiancé Dan. The soon-to-be-newlyweds asked me to create one-of-a-kind wedding bands, with the instructions to 'do whatever you want' – the sweetest music to any jewelers ears!
Both these bad-ass love birds are covered in beautiful tattoos, so I took inspiration from their ink to create two sterling silver weddings bands. The initial sketch and wax carvings featured some of my favorite pieces of theirs, a sage owl and a classic Siebe diving helmet.
Each band features their respective tattoos in alternating order, making the pieces both sentimental and rebellious. I have always wanted to create a piece inspired by the wearers tattoos, so this project was a dream come true.
After the sketch and wax carvings were approved, I had the bands cast in sterling silver. Both pieces include small sapphires, whilst Dan's band has a rose gold rim and Marsena's in sterling silver. The amount of carving and finite detail in each image made this a longterm project and a real labour of love.
Congratulations to this lovely couple on their upcoming nuptials! We're so honored to be apart of your story.
