An ancient Greek Diobol coin from 400-300 B.C.E. portrays a close-up of Medusa with an understanding eye: her snakes are out of frame, leaving nothing but the soft power and beauty of a misunderstood female figure. 14k gold and bright fine silver set the stage for this nostalgic coin; while one side centers Medusa, the other side of the ancient Greek coin features an anchor with a crayfish and an A, in honor of Apollonia.
