If you have ever seen a scallop just after it has escaped the water, it varies greatly in color. But growing up, I remember my father's bushels of scallops as rough and black on the outside, decked with seaweed and barnacles, while smooth and white on the inside. This brings back the nostalgia of those childhood memories... of watching my dad shuck scallops in his orange rubber apron, completely taking over the kitchen with buckets of clapping scallops and the sweet, murky smell of fresh seafood and mud.

This medium Oxidized Sterling Silver scallop measures 1 1/4" in length, and is dotted with teeny tiny Sterling Silver barnacles. The underside of the shell remains white Silver. The barnacles are added individually, so each brooch will differ slightly.

Each piece is handmade to order, so please allow two to three weeks for the creative process.
