I had the pleasure of having my mom and my sister visit for the day. It was so incredibly beautiful we could hardly believe it! The sky was royal blue and the air seemed to glow. We took a walk down the street to the monument/little castle on Prospect Hill in Union Square, Somerville. I found some delicious patinas and rust patterns along the doorways and windows on the monument... metal is just so amazing. Add Comment My friends works at a Starbucks in the financial district here in Boston, and recommend I fill their lonely walls with some photos of my work. It was so much fun to see them lining the hall! Kate and I! It was fun to meet Tegan (middle) and Lauren (right), too! They all make a mean coffee... 1 International Place Boston, MA I have decided that my Apple Necklace would be perfect as the mascot for ABC's hit show, Once Upon A Time. I think one of my favorite characters, Regina (aka the evil queen) would look fantastic wearing this symbolic charm! She has made it clear how much she loves Apples.... Ginnifer Goodwin already has the necklace, too. How appropriate, for Snow White! This past Thanksgiving I had the privilege of spending the holiday with my friend's family, and her mother was kind enough to donate to my growing egg collection. I think they look lovely on this old hobnail lamp. It has taken me far too long to finally come up with a larger size for the Skate Egg Cases. They aren't quite finished- they need to be sent off and molded, but they were just too pretty to keep all to myself. Soon they will be up on my website! These guys will measure 2 1/4", so quite a bit larger than the smaller version. Plus- they will look great as earrings! Large Egg Ring I love the idea of doing a cocktail ring that has volume but keeps with my image. I haven't played much with size and statement, and I am excited to finally be pursuing it. I started with wax, and carved an egg roughly the size I wanted the ring to be. I then drilled and sawed a hole, and filed it until it was the size of my finger. I hollowed the egg until it was thin enough to be hefty and durable in metal, but not limb-breaking, either. Here is an image of it in wax! In metal I started with a plain Silver egg. It was smooth and lovely, but simple. I thought for some time before I put the finishing touches on it. I speckled it with holes and darkened the Silver to an iron gray, keeping the holes and the interior a deep black. I think it adds the right twist to a minimal silhouette. I am happy with the results, and excited to make more in line with this image! I am happy to be bringing the egg back into my work. Perhaps a bit late, but I wanted to introduce an addition to my egg collection: this little one, formed from clay and gold foiled. It was a birthday present from my dear friend, Jemesii, who makes these little creatures covered with glitter for her own home. I may eventually be snagging myself a few of those, too... hint, hint... As I am starting on the orders from Fab.com's sale, I find these little glimpses of my work refreshingly comical. |
