I had the opportunity to make this necklace for someone, and enjoyed going back to my original design of branches for a few days. Here are some photos of the process:

Below is a necklace a customer purchased in Hawaii. While it is a lovely necklace, she found that she never wore it and wanted to start. So, she brought it to me to be reinvented.
I added a few pods, soldered together and plated gold. See below for the final results!

My friends works at a Starbucks in the financial district here in Boston, and recommend I fill their lonely walls with some photos of my work. It was so much fun to see them lining the hall!
Kate and I!

It was fun to meet Tegan (middle) and Lauren (right), too!

They all make a mean coffee...

I'm sure many of you have seen my Conversation Hearts in my Candy Collection. After falling head over heels for a few dogs in my life I decided to charm them with their very own, personalized Heart!

Jem and Dave took some fuzzy yet adorable Instragram pics of the pups with their new bling:

First is Olive, Jem's little Chi.

Jem's Kala, part Chihuahua, part bulldozer, with her dainty Gold Heart...

Dave's Boxer, Laila, with her Silver Heart.

At my trunk show, the real Ruthie B. (mom) saw these:

But since she really prefers posts, I changed them to these for her:

I can edit my jewelry to suit you preferences. Just let me know!

I took this photo of my dad opening scallops several Christmases ago, and it has always stuck with me.

Among the many other pieces the Ruthie B. (his boat, appropriately named after my mother) has inspired for my up and coming Nautical Line is my scallop shell. Here is a peak.

To show you how I made this one, I have put together another step-by-step photo process for your enjoyment. Sit back and watch the scallop form without having to put any of the countless hours of effort I put into it.

1. I missed a few steps, so we'll have to jump in here. This is a pitch bowl. The process I am about to show is called repousse' and chasing. Repousse' is the process of hammering from the underside to create a design in low relief (a dome or a convex shape of some sort). Chasing is the process of hammering the top of the piece, adding detail, etc (the opposite of repousse'). I heated the pitch until it was goopy (a technical term), and placed the sheet of metal into it. After letting it cool, I hammered it (the soon to be underbelly of the scallop) to the point above.

2. Once the belly was deep enough, I turned it over. I neatly drew very straight, eye-balled lines on it.
Picture
3. I tapped (or "chased") the drawn lines into the design.
Picture
4. Here the lines have been satisfactorily chased.
Picture
5. I took the sheet out of the pitch and fired off the excess pitch. I then drew the shape I needed to cut out.

6. I cut it out.

7. This isn't a step, I am just comparing it to other scallops... IE I was having fun.

8. I started cleaning off the bottom.....

9. ...and the top....

10. It came out quite heavy, so I really needed to grind it down. Here is the finished product: top view.

11. And here is the finished product from the bottom.

12. Here I am soldering the little jump ring on! Taking a photo while soldering? Very safe.

13. Lucky 13! My favorite number. Here is the scallop, clean and pretty. This being the original, it is in copper, but I will be making it in Sterling Silver and Vermeil. I can't wait to play with all sorts of finishes and add a few barnacles. Stay tuned!

I am thinking of adding some color via anodized aluminum.
The price point would be significantly lower, and they would be light as a feather. Thoughts?

My dearest Jembot commissioned me to make her a crown ring. She gave me a price, a size, and left the rest up to me! And right in time for the Royal Wedding.

Talk about pressure.....

Here is what I came up with:

I will make a series of rings inspired by her idea, but this one is one-of-a-kind, specially designed for my dear friend.

Keep checking back to see what I come up with!

I know what you are thinking. No posts, no work being done! But I assure you, I have several projects up my sleeves. Little cuties like these Goldfish, and some bigger works in progress.

These little purple guys will be cast in Sterling Silver and Gold. I'll keep you posted!
